Montana de Tindaya
Montana de Tindaya (35649 Tindaya, La Oliva) – located toward the north end of the island, this is a favored eco-tourist destination. This volcano rises to about 400 meters above sea level. Since it is classified by the local authorities as a natural monument, it is protected by special laws.
In order to be allowed to hike to Montana de Tindaya, you are required to ask for a permit from the Cabildo – Consejería de Medio Ambiente del Cabildo. You can request this permit from the offices in Puerto del Rosario and Carralejo. Due to its location, Montana de Tindaya is visible from many parts of the island. On a clear day, you can see Mount Teide (Tenerife) and Pico de las Nieves (Gran Canaria).
